Strike Force Heroes: Extraction
Yes, the cat's out of the bag! We've always wanted to make some sort of running and shooting game. After SFH2, this seemed like a great time to get started.
What's it about?
It's a running game at it's core, but with a large amount of twists and turns to keep it fresh. Like Strike Force Heroes, there will be a large amount of characters, weapons, skills, and upgrades to chose from.
The game will feature some pretty hectic scenarios, with some pretty awesome and dynamic levels!
There's some pretty unique features in the game, but I'll dive more into that in the upcoming weeks.
Why go mobile? Why not stay with Flash?
First of all, the genre of the game just seemed to lend itself naturally to mobile. We also really want to expand our company to making bigger and better things, eventually maybe even full PC/XBLA games!
The problem with Flash is that it doesn't extend to anything. When a Flash game is finished, a sponsor pays flat amount of money. After that, no matter how incredibly popular the Flash game gets, the developers don't get much in return and it slowly fades out of existance. Flash is great to start with, but it's doesn't allow for much expansion, and is something you can't stay in forever. (Look at Dan Paladin - Castle Crashers/BattleBlock Theater, or Team Meat - Super Meatboy, etc)
We want to make really big and exciting games, and it looks like Mobile is a good start to get there. Players being able to purchase our games also really helps us expand as after a Flash game is released, you don't earn anything from it anymore despite how popular it may become. (Raze 1 is our most popular game we've ever made, and we've received the least from it)
Is this the end of Flash?
No, of course not! We still want to always port our games to Flash, and still have some ideas of Flash games down the road. We'd still love to make a Raze 3 when the whole team is ready (Addison is still in school). Though for now we want to give Mobile a shot and see where we can go from there. We've got our fingers crossed.
Edit - Price:
Ported to Flash will be free obviously, anything for Mobile will usually be around $1 or $2
Keep an eye out in the upcoming weeks for more development info!
