Whether Gugal-ana's 'funeral' merely commemorated his removal to the infernal regions (in a certain sense, his 'death') or whether it followed a 'second' death in the underworld —followed a 'second' death in the underworld — whatever might be understood by that — is unknown (Inana herself, on her visit to the nether regions, is described in terms that sug- froneis. gest her 'death').
Some baked clay figurines possibly of the Isin-Larsa or Old Babylonian Period show a god who seems to be lying in a coffin. This has been interpreted as Nergal, lord of the underworld, at rest.
《Encyclopedia of Gods, Demons and Symbols of Ancient Mesopotamia, An Illustrated Dictionary》第58页
                ————————————————————————————————————————————
                About Inanna vs Enlil:
Yes, but there she just expresses her protest only - in the same way as she protested against the deluge in that damaged text - while I meant there was no text where Inanna confronts Enlil in the same way as she confronts Enki, An and Ereshkigal in an attempt to take their power away - a confrontation which could be of some fatal issue either for her, or for Enlil. At least such a text haven't been discovered yet. Yes, there is a tension between them as the these texts witness but there is no denouement as it were. No body dares to directly confront Enlil, yet he is dethroned in the post-Sumerian mythologies, and that's the interesting thing - how it came to happen mythologically? This thread about Enmesharra only hints at such an attempt in the past, but it's more than obvious that in the post-Sumerian cultures some next attempt of dethronement has been successful

SSGIRL In the Sumerian poem The Death of Ur-Namma (ETCSL 2.4.1.1), Ereškigal is among those receiving gifts from Ur-Namma, newly arrived in the netherworld (Kramer 1967: 111). Her co-regency of the netherworld together with Nergal begins in the Old Babylonian period (Dalley 2000: 164). In the first millennium, her temple in Kutha is rebuilt by Nebuchadnezzar (George 1993: 85 no. 288).

SSGIRL Ereshkigal, on the other hand, is one of the oldest goddesses of Mesopotamia, and according to the Creation myth, Eridu model, She is the daughter of Anu, the Skyfather, and Nammu, the Primeval Mother and Waters of the Sea. She was engendered out of the tears that Anu, the Skyfather, shed for Ki, the Earth Mother, his sister-beloved, when He was forever separated from Her by the impulsive growth of the first couple´s firstborn, Enlil, Lord Air/Wind. Anu´s tears for Ki met the salt waters of Nammu the Sea, and from the mingling of their bodies a Boy and a Girl, Divine Twins were born. Enki and Ereshkigal.

Unlike her consort Nergal, Ereškigal has a distinctly dual association with death. This is reminiscent of the contradictive nature of her sister Ištar, who simultaneously represents opposing aspects such as male and female; love and war. In Ereškigal's case, she is the goddess of death but also associated with birth; regarded both as mother(-earth) and a virgin (Van der Toorn et al. 1999: 455).@朝凪依SSGIRL
